It’s been a flavour in Canada for over 40 years? Since it was all Hostess and Ruffles and before Frito-Lay rebranded as Lay’s.
It also contains dill pickle and ketchup flavour up here I believe.
I'm in the US; we don't even have the ketchup ones over here (I hella wanna try 'em cuz they sound like they'd taste more like BBQ sauce than the BBQ chips). We might not have these either, which would explain why I've only seen them in memes. 🤷♂️
Ketchup is essentially bbq & vinegar with a bright red dye. Doesn’t really taste like ketchup OR bbq, but exactly like “artificial ketchup flavour”.
