In a past job, I ran children's parties. One day one of the moms turned out being a girl I was friends with in middle school. Her kid was a treat, but the old friend's personality was completely unrecognizable. The way she talked and moved, I could swear she was medicated. She had this calm to her that didn't feel natural, even if she had been a stranger.

I tend to hope the best for others, so I've been under the assumption she must be on some kind of prescription that has sedative properties or side effects. Though I know that in high school (by which time we'd first parted ways), she got into some heavy drugs. I also know that by the time she had her third child, she'd become a full-blown anti-vaxxer, and her distrust of medicine was the reason we stopped talking to each other a second time (via Facebook, after connecting again long after high school.)

So really, I have no idea what's going on. Hopefully she's happy and healthy, but considering her updated anti-doctor stance I now feel doubts that whatever she was on was prescription. Either way, she's nothing like the person I once knew. I hope her kids are okay.
