Lemmy basically exists at this point for idiots to deliberately misunderstand the workings of the government in order to blame the democratic party for illegal shit the republicans do. Every single time republicans do something heinous these chuds come out screaming about why the Dems let this happen and how it's actually their fault for not stopping the people in absolute power, it's fucking bananas. 95 percent of lemmy is basically the worst ten percent of reddit, and most prominent commenters seem to use gpt or something else to think their thoughts for them. Lemmy is a fucking joke when it comes to discussing politics and it's every bit as arbitrarily moderated as reddit.
Amazing way to start your argument
No, we understand it very clearly; power and/or money rules, and laws are suggestions for politicians
Who's left to enforce what's legal? If the entire government is compromised, and constantly approving of illegal shit, what use is there in caring about laws and legality of actions? Power rules, laws are mere suggestions to the Epstein-class
They had so many chances to pull exactly the same shit to stop evil and never did in the name of "normality". They knew that Republicans are neo-nazi fascists and did jack shit to use their temporary power to stop them. If they want to market themselves as the "good guys" and then choose not to stop cartoonish levels of evil how do they expect any remaining support? You're not blaming the wolf, screaming they're hungry for chickens, for eating the chickens; you blame the shepherd for not grabbing the shotgun and headshotting the wolves in sight. If Democrats want to claim they're "not stepping down to the level of illegal actions" while knowing if they don't then the neo-nazi fascist regime is coming (and now it has already arrived, good job), they're just as bad. Something something one nazi in a bar = nazi bar
Lmao we're entering the era of deflecting arguments by claiming it's written/thought-conceived by an LLM. I wonder if there's already a name for that fallacy
There's not even a central moderation; go to a different instance (and follow different communities) if you're so upset by the local moderation.
By the way I'm not even from the US, I just find it depressing to follow the situation from here in Europe knowing this is likely what's waiting for us in 10-20 years. Let's hope our democracy is better than yours
You don't understand or you wouldn't say stupid shit that proves you don't understand. And then you just straight admit you're a foreigner that follows our politics for kicks, you're literally a propagandist and you probably don't even know it. But unless you want everything to get worse for everyone everywhere you should probably stop spreading disinformation that elects republicans. Or just admit that's what you're doing here.
Which part of my understanding is wrong?
I never said I follow your politics for kicks, where did I say that?
I also don't even talk about this topic myself, unless I see someone like you who seemingly doesn't understand where the sentinment is coming from. I'd rather spend my time convincing my friends to vote further prog-left in our local/national elections than argue about the Epstein class in the US
No, I want you to gain understanding of where the opinion is coming from so you can get your head out of your self-righteous ass and talk to people in good faith instead, instead of thinking they're all propagandists
And the entire point is that it seemingly doesn't matter, because even with years of full Democrat reign nothing will change, they will not fix the broken "democracy" that the US has, and then the first Republican to take office will immediately illegally undo all those years of progress within a week and plunge straight into a fascist state, and continue their gerrymandering and court-stacking unbothered and unopposed. Why the fuck didn't Biden stack the court? Why didn't the years of Democrat trifecta stop gerrymandering and make vote-by-ballot easy and unopposable? It's hilarious how those simple tasks haven't happened, which is unthinkable as a European (specifically, Dutch)
You know jack shit about me, so stop jumping to conclusions
