For this Special Thursday Cinema Night, first up is Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild’s Revenge (1924), the second installment of a two-part mythological fantasy epic from renowned German auteur Fritz Lang, who work has appeared numerous times on the ‘tube, namely The Big Heat (1953), The Woman in the Window (1944), Fury (1936), and Scarlet Street (1945). This is part of his earlier German Expressionist period, along with Metropolis (1927) and M (1931), following Princess Kriemhild’s roaring rampage of revenge against the scheming royals who killed her husband, Siegfried. She marries the king of the Huns and invites Gunther’s court to their abode, putting on an air of civility while planning the best way to bump them off. Chicks are gonna rock. This is considered one of the best silent films, so let’s check it out.

After that is Send Help (2026), the latest horror-comedy from renowned schlockmeister Sam Raimi, in the proud tradition of his Evil Dead (1981) series. Stranded on a remote tropical island, an overworked employee (Rachel McAdams) and her jerk boss (Dylan O’Brien) must somehow learn to survive amidst the harsh environment. The power dynamic between employer and employee begins to reverse as McAdams’ character learns to be a badass and confront her workplace grievances head-on. A whole lot of blood and gore follow from there. This is really popular on Letterboxd, so we’ll give it a shot.

We’ll start at 8PM EST on Blorptube, right here:
