Usually it’s men who feel it’s gay to go anywhere near their own buttholes.

I’ve never been able to understand that level of homophobia and self-hatred.

I don't really buy this, because if you're taught to wipe when you're a toddler, it doesn't seem realistic that you'll stop when you're older due to homophobia.

Not all parents are good at parenting either.

Get enough kids teasing each other by calling each other gay and I can easily see how a kid might get some ideas about this.
