The vast majority of pitbull owners are responsible and aware of the dangers that originally bred for fighting dogs will always have.
But for every 10 good owners, there is 1 ignorant, dysfunction, asshole who doesn't control their dog and let's them get aggressive or doesn't correct their instincts for prey seeking behavior.
Thats when children get mauled, and small dogs die.
I don't think pitbulls should be banned, but I do think that owners who do not take care of them or raise a traumatized fighting dog, should be charged as if they had been recklessly shooting a gun and hurt someone. Tldr Pitbulls, when mishandled, become deadly weapons. Owners of violent dogs should be treated as harshly as possible. There's no excuse.
