I never thought it tasted good but the image comparison is more like:
"how alcohol makes you feel at first" vs "how alcohol makes you feel later."
And it works for both short and long term. Short term, how you first feel when you get drunk when the night is young and then later have a hangover. Long term, how alcohol makes you feel when you first start drinking vs what alcohol really does to you and makes you feel after a decade of heavy drinking.
