When you say, "if 100 instances all requested translations of the same post...", are you implying that your Libretranslate server can be used by other PieFed instances?

Or does each instance that wants to provide a translation service need to spin up their own Libretranslate server? And if each must self-host it, must it be Libretranslate?

Yes it can be used by others.

However after using it for a while I am not satisfied with the quality of the translation so I'm not keen on rolling it out further.
