The fact that it's behind a Medium pay wall certainly doesn't help the self-promotion case. Maybe publish somewhere that isn't an enshittified cesspool?
Appreciate you telling me, it shouldn't be paywalled.
I think Medium does it on their own sometimes. I got a full page undismissable subscription screen when I scrolled on my phone. I just tried again after you commented and it's showing me the full article now, so I don't think it's your fault. But my point stands, Medium is absolute dog water in terms of publishing platforms, you'd be better off posting on Mastodon tbh (and I hate trying to self publish on Mastodon).
Don't use mastodon, ain't going to start cultivating a following just for self promotion.
Lemmy is the only social media I use. But I would like more reach than just posting the text here.
I'm in a bad position financially, and getting good at writing and becoming a published author is my Hail Mary project.
Been trying to send my stories to science fiction magazines, and self published a book but I got like 7$ in royalties after about a decade, and am sitting on a novel trying to find an agent. I just need enough visibility and following to attract an agent.
