I just assumed all presidents wear them.
If he's wearing one, it protects against pistols at most. If you want to stop a rifle round, you need plates. This guy is not going to be carrying around that much weight in plates all the time. He can't even walk on his own as is.
They do, since Reagan.
Teddy Roosevelt famously only needed his speech booklet (he continued to give his speech after being shot by a would-be assassin).
Reagan also was shot by a .22LR rifle (which he initially didn't notice) without a vest on.
Usually the Secret Service is enough though. You usually aren't getting close enough to the president outside of ceremonial/public event circumstances unless you have "Yankee White" clearance anyway (You'd be detained before getting within a few blocks of them).
I’m shocked no one has tried the explosive drone technique. Even active war zones have trouble containing those, let alone a couple block perimeter.
They have countermeasures in place for drones in "no fly" air space. And that air space is a moving box around him.
Well there are fibre-optic drones in mass-production now... Place a remote controlled "mothership" van outside the electronic warfare perimeter, start a dozen drones from there, and tada, countermeasures countermeasured.
They probably wear kevlar or some shit, that will do fuck all
