No I don't mean con man. He's a exceptional business man, who's revolutionised electric cars for the planet.
I doubt you've done much better.
LOL, where are the electric semis, where are the solarpanel roof tiles, where is the hyperloop, where is (insert something of the many more things he promised).
He's also created one of the mist powerful EV brands on planet.
Revolutionised the EV world, and released the best selling EVs on he planet.

It's not a con. It's literally one of the best cars on the market.
Estimating product development isn't a con.
Looks like i am at a an other market then you. Teslas arent the best EVs anymore for a long time here. Like, they were good when they launched and had no competitors.
They had no competition because Elon literally made the market, his avant garde creations kick started the EV revolution.
Tesla's are still great cars and the sales figures prove this, being some of the best selling EVs on the planet.
