Hmm, no I wouldn't say that. I have literally alternated between different series and read other books, although I guess it is not that long since I read either of the first books in the series'. It is not a project though, I am very capable of dropping books/games/shows if I am getting bored. This time I just wanted to continue that one. I read Children of Time in December and liked it, but haven't felt like reading the next book yet.
