Is this just something I have to eat frequently enough to get a developed sense of taste?

I don't really seek out avocado but whenever it gets offered I always give it a shot cause people apparently think it's one of the best but like I feel like I'm missing the right taste receptors.

To me it tastes like eating something between soft tofu and room temp butter with the flavor of butter that zipped past.

Maybe it's just me? If you like or love avocado that's totally fair. I just feel like it's not doing anything for meπŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Over your lifetime your taste buds will change. You may like an item for many years/decades and then suddenly you don't really care to eat it. This is normal, plus personal preference plays a big part as well. And how you use or even cook/prepare that food item, makes a difference. Your diet can also dictate what tastes good to you. If you eat nothing but oily, salty & sweet foods that are highly processed, all fruits & vegetables will taste bad to you. Your palate responds to what you consume. The more whole foods you eat, the more your taste buds come out. I've learned that trying something again after many years can change my perspective on a food.
