There was a loud minority of SJWs who tried to cancel her once they found out she leaned conservative. People started attacking her online, tweeting and posting stuff like “Well, in my household we’ll never watch anything she’s in again!” and “Welp, she’s over, bye Sidney!” It even started bleeding into interviews whenever she tried to promote a movie.
But in the end the cancel attempt flopped. Fifty people deciding not to buy something doesn’t actually do anything. She still gets work, and the jeans company is fine. It’s a perfect example of a loud minority thinking they could take down an actress just because they assumed she was conservative. Like most of these things, mainstream society just ignored them. Most people don’t give a fuck.
The fact that you don’t even know who tried to “cancel” her is proof of how lame the whole thing was in the first place. It was a fucking jeans commercial, and some vegan Karens thought they were going to change the world by getting pissed off about it. They somehow twisted it into her and the jeans company being part of the KKK or some shit. And nothing came of it. LMAO.
It’s the same energy Lemmy tries to pull every day, acting like they’re the pulse of the nation with all their revolution and “eat the rich” talk. Nothing ever changes. Most people just go through life doing their own thing without making politics and rage their whole personality.
There’s not going to be a revolution. Luigi isn’t some hero who’s going to lead the people. Robinson isn't a hero because he murdered Charlie Kirk. And people are still buying the jeans this chick is advertising. Life goes on, and the extremists keep crying. Because they don't really matter.
It’s fun to watch from a sociological point of view though. I’m loving it.
I guess you got to take the wins when you can get them, seeing as MAGA has had so few recently.
Still seems pathetic to me.
Then you should be happy, right? MAGA has few wins, and is just fading away. Nothing to worry about, right? You should let most of Lemmy know that so they can stop being so mad!
MAGA is losing, and everything is gonna be fine, right? So why is Lemmy still so mad about everything?! That seems kinda pathetic to me since MAGA isn't winning anything lately.
Here is the thing. MAGA, is not conservative. I am more conservative than you. MAGA is a cult lead by power grabing neo Nazis and corporate elites.
As a conservative, I'm mad about the loss of our constitutional rights, billions of dollars being stolen, our country being invaded by a Paramilitary force loyal to the executive branch, inflation making it hard for real Americans to live, and the fact that the child rapist and murders are being protected.
This is the MAGA platform, and it's not conservative.
I'm not MAGA either. I didn't vote for Trump. I'm actually Libertarian. So yes, you are more conservative than me.
But I do enjoy watching Lemmy have meltdowns and call everything and everyone they disagree with, MAGA and Nazis. I think almost everyone on Lemmy is crazy and extremist. It's fascinating to watch. LMAO
Politics isn't my persona, not something I obsess about daily, and my life is filled with taking walks, hangout out with neighbors, and being happy all the time. And the few times I do think about poltics in real life, I align with Libertarians and vote for them. And in my area, some are in local offices, so all good.
Well, keep celebrating MAGAs little wins then such as an ad for a clothing company.
Celebrating? I posted a news link to a news article. Is posting links to news articles, "celebrating" now?
I thought it was an amusing article because of how people were upset in the first place. You seemed confused about the topic of the article, so I explained it to you. Weird that you would think that counts as "celebrating." Worth a chuckle, but celebrating? Brah... lol
I just now posted an article about ICE's overeach with regards to a citizen. https://lemmy.today/post/51349152
Was I celebrating it by posting it? Is that what you think when you see an article posted?
