🇺🇸 According to USNI News—the media arm of the U.S. Naval Institute—the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) is operating off Namibia, taking an unusual route around Africa to join a growing U.S. naval buildup in the Arabian Sea amid a U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Instead of transiting the Strait of Gibraltar and Mediterranean, the strike group—escorted by USS Donald Cook (DDG-75), USS Mason (DDG-87), USS Ross (DDG-71), and supported by USNS Arctic (TAOE-8)—is bypassing the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb.
ℹEarlier today, some reports said it had crossed Gibraltar; however, this now appears not to be the case.
