Because you're still listening to their music ? Do you buy the merch of thousands of producers who make ambient music? Do I need to have the ambient track hit me in a way that all the others don't before they are worthy of being paid?
What an absolutely batshit insane take.
No, you shouldn’t be paid for making something nobody wants. Same reason I think everyone who works in AI should have all their money taken away.
how did you to come across as a fuckstick and somehow not read what i said
Why would anyone download and listen to music they don’t like…?
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6048DIIHRMegUg0IHm7T5m
How do you propose I recompense all the artists on this playlist for example?
That's 8,902 songs
Yeah that doesn't look anything like my playlists.
I typically find new music through recommendations from friends, through other media (games, tv), youtube or radio.
They're either a troll or stupid, imagine going shopping and paying for everything you looked at or touched.
Acting like Spotify is good for artists at all is just insane
I duno, how do you guys find new music to listen to?
Sometimes I'll just put a playlist on with 1000 tracks in it, maybe a couple I like, most are ok, some of them i skip, in my world they all get paid, in your world only a tiny tiny fraction of them do
The same way anybody did before Spotify? Listen to something, if you like it then buy it, if you don't then don't.
just how rich do you think i am? you think i can afford to go through 10’s of thousands of back catalogs trying to find the music im listening to to buy?
god damn boomers
How much have you spent paying Spotify to own absolutely nothing?
you can see my listening stats here https://www.last.fm/user/ikt123
Spotify is the only subscription I have and I find it immense value supporting artists and discovering new music
ty for asking :)
Doesn't answer the question.
You can justify paying an evil corp however you want, all of the people you are arguing with here are just telling you there are better ways to support artists and discover music
yes and they’re all wrong, from the linux losers who pirate and then rarely if ever buy music but virtue signal like they buy music on the daily to the bandcampers who have the music discovery capabilities of limewire and have to spend significantly more time finding music to listen to
wrong about how much spotify pays out because they don’t know the calculations behind it
they complain about low payouts while simultaneously using spotify free/ad supported which is bottom tier in payouts to artists, there’s even posts here linking to ways to ad block on spotify free so instead of artists getting a tiny bit they get nothing? and they’re preaching to me ???
they’re wrong about timelines, record stores and software support
what a pain i can think for myself 😮💨
the only one i’ll give credit to is qobuz but fuck me are they vegan cunts about it, nyeh im using qobuz because i’m better than spotify users nyeh
i am not most people, as you saw i listen to a shitload of music, some i like, some i don’t, some im ambivalent about, i support them all the same
You listen to music you don't like...?
There used to be plenty of music stores where you could listen to the music before you bought it. They all died because of Spotify. Good job supporting an industry that killed physical media, pushes AI "music" to the masses and enables Nazi podcasters. Nice fucking Job.
Also, Go to Bandcamp. You can listen to all the music there. Then you can decide to buy the music and in return you get to download the FLAC files. Most artists even let you decide how much you want to pay. You come off as someone who's never taken a step out into the world and just gobbles everything up that is spoonfed to you.
Incorrect, the answer we were after is Napster
