During WW2 there was a joke (and this one got the person who told it executed).

A dying soldier was in a field hospital and there was nothing the doctors could do to save him. His dying request was to be reminded of what he was fighting for. The doctor put a picture of Hitler on his right side, and a picture of Himmler on the other. Then the soldier said "Now I will die as Jesus died! Between two thieves!"
