Hi all,

Bummer that it needs to be spelled out but okay. I will change the sidebar when I can log on to a computer but thought it made sense to provide this update here.

The sidebar will read:

No conflict with an instance?

My comment to you was to not bring your conflict into this community, which you did by insulting another user. I did not suggest you were bringing a conflict with another instance with your comment.

The text of my post did refer to a conflict with another instance. Based on your comment, I assume you are referring to the removed post. You can see my reason for removal on the post.

The conflict that was brought into the community was the decision to cross post from a community of a similar name from a different instance for the purpose of causing this content to be available outside of the original instance. The user who does this has expressed that they are doing this because of conflict they have with that instance. Such cross posts are not genuine engagement with this community and are not welcome here. Even if the cross posts were in the spirit of the community I would remove them.

You and the user who had their post removed are welcome to engage in the spirit of the community through your own posts but I am not interested in having this space be a platform for all this.

I hope everything is now clear.

The conflict was the user (hamid) in the post causing conflict, not the post itself. The post only breaks your new rule of not posting articles.

Cross-posting content is not a “conflict”, it’s a basic functionality of the software.

Do you understand that I am the person who removed the post? Why are you are arguing with me about why I did it?

The only reason I am continuing to reply is to make sure that anyone else who comes across this thread is clear that removed the post because of the reasons I have previously stated:

The content itself did not belong here - that's pretty straight forward I hope.

I do not want this community to be a platform for people's conflict with another instance. - The individual who makes these cross posts has a link in their profile about why they do it, and it is because of the conflict they have with the instance. This behaviour is damaging to this community because it is not genuine engagement. It is a vehicle for their conflict.

I don't know why people are treating me like I'm not well aware of this user, the way he uses the platform, and also that the individual you named in your comment is not a fan. It's insulting.

My personal opinion on this is largely irrelevant but I will share this: I think the emphasis on engagement metrics is harmful to the kind of communities I want to belong to and it annoys me when I encounter it.

Anyone is welcome to share their experiences with nature, but that behavior is not.
