A key element of the Dark Enlightenment is the scapegoat mechanism of René Girard’s mimetic theory. Trump serves as the chaos agent to dismantle democracy, ultimately blamed for everything and removed from office. The second part involves Vance taking his place to establish an authoritarian state techno-monarchy from the ashes of destruction. With midterms looming, the narrative will focus on how Trump’s fitness, or lack thereof, to hold office and condition the masses to believe that Vance is the inevitable, albeit “reasonable” replacement.

Vance is not reasonable, but he is the legal replacement if Trump is vacated, for whatever reason. Maybe some people will consider him reasonable, but I have to imagine they are either deep republican, or have the intelligence and memory of a goldfish. "If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do." -Vance

The scary part is, he's young. If Trump dies in office, we have the real possibility of a 30-year long dictatorship.

I get it, but I think part of the key is, he's so dis-likable. It's true he's got a lot of life ahead of him, but can't see him convincing a dog to do something, let alone a majority of the electorate, or even a majority of the Republicans. He just doesn't have the sway that Trump does. Though I personally cannot understand people who think Trump is charismatic. So incredibly repulsive.
