What does "doing everything right" even mean? Why does it sound like you were taking about religion - the gods will hear your prayers, so do pray but it's not guaranteed to work because the gods might have other plans.
"Do everything right" as in "do what reasonable experts and experienced practitioners in X field say is the key to success diligently"
I mean.... yes. That is life. I'm not religious, so I would call it random chance, not "god". But the end result is the same. If you want some kind of guarentee that you will be successful and achieve all your goals and dreams and live happily ever after no matter what... then you are looking for a fairy tale, not a realistic description of the world and how to achieve your goals. Luck, hard work, and smart descisions will all play a role.
Yeah, you can get a great degree or trade apprenticeship that should guarantee a good financial life, but be fucked by the market deciding your career is no longer as needed, or too many people got into it at a similar time or even you got injured in a way that prevents you from utilizing it. Life happens. A good strategy is a good strategy even if it doesn't work, and a bad strategy is a bad strategy even if it does work.
