Rules:
- The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
- Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
- If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
- Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
- For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
- Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
- This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.

Not their beliefs exactly, but the animus that feeds those beliefs has been fed now and I bet will continue. They dont love trump, they love sticking it to those they have a grudge against, by playing with concepts of opposites. We've only been making more and more aggrieved people lately. Conservatives aren't even expressing themselves in real conceptual terms about their beleifs, they are talking in abstraction about their emotional state or immaturity.
Story time. I'll be quick. I did some time in my ancient youth as a playroom coordinator at a hospital. (yes, I have changed a bit I know..)
One kid who was naturally influential didnt like another kid. The less popular kid had a horse. The popular kid decided to state that horses are stupid, and useless, and eat perfectly good grass, so served no purpose anymore and should die. So he'd tell the less popular kid that all horses should die. And some other kids observed this effective manipulation so they agreed, all horses are useless and I guess that means death, what can you do against such logic?
And they'd tack it onto conversations with some fake(maybe?) innocence, all to push that one kids buttons. They probably universally liked horses, but expressing themselves in terms of opposition to express dislike and as an outlet for their other problems was the whole point. I think maybe I see that in republicans. And if you talked to the kid with the horse, he was really trying to convince everyone he could that horses were great. Sometimes I wonder if all of us who arent conservatives are talking about horses being great, and republicans are just enjoying the fact that they are making us talk about it at all, and that we bought into their framing.
