Have people always had his opinion? I swear I've never seen pushback for April Fools joke articles in the past. Hell, they were anticipated because of fun ones like Blizzard.
Just the "kicked off of every other platform" crybabies that have settled on Lemmy doing what they do
Anything you can think of, there's probably a whole group of people who hate it.
You probably stay away from people like that in your real life, but through the magic of the Internet they get to sit in your living room and yell at you to stop having fun.
Seems to be more prevalent here on the fediverse specifically
