Can't we not shit on good news just for like a microsecond?

Yeah AI sucks and is killing the world, but its fantastic that despite the increase in energy demand, in 10 years we've been able to go from 1% to 10% of global energy demand being produced by solar energy.

Probably, yeah, but not only that, also heating with an electric stove, or powering electric vehicles, and there's probably plenty of other stuff that's currently (directly) polluting that could be swapped with electric versions instead if solar (+ batteries) becomes cheap and easy enough.

It sucks that AI guzzling power is most likely the reason for it, but don't let that make you hate solar power please.

Lots of solar is built on roofs and balconies of private homes, most of the electricity that's generated from those installations is going to be used up in-house.
