Community rules:
Be respectful and civil with each other. Don't be a jerk. There is a real human being on the other side of your screen. See also the Blahaj.Zone Community Rules
No bigotry of any kind allowed. Making racist, sexist, trans-/homo-/queerphobic, otherwise demeaning and hateful comments is not ok. Disabilities and mental illnesses are not to be used as insults and should not be part of your comment unless speaking of your own or absolutely relevant.
No gatekeeping and being rude to people who don't agree with you. Leave “gamer” stereotypes out of your comment (e.g. sexless, neck bearded, teenaged, basement-dwelling, etc). Don't compare people to animals, or otherwise deny their humanity. Even if you think someone is the worst human on the planet, do not wish death or harm upon them.
No "justice porn". Posts regarding legal action and similar is allowed, but celebrating someone being harmed is not.
Contrarianism for its own sake is unnecessary and not welcome.
No planning operations, no brigading, no doxxing or similar activities allowed.
Absolutely no defense of GamerGate and other right-wing harassment campaigns, no TERFs and transphobia, racism, dismissing of war crimes and praise of fascists. This includes “JAQing off”, intentionally asking leading questions while pretending to be a neutral party. This also applies to other forms of authoritarianism and authoritarian or criminal actions by liberal or leftist governments.
NSFW threads, such as ones discussing erotic art, pornography and sex work, must be tagged as such.
Moderators can take action even if none of the rules above are broken.

I have yet to see anyone propose plausible replacements beyond public private key encryption. And it wasn’t clear how those keys would be authenticated reliably.
I think there should be counter proposals. Not just anger. If anyone can link me to a concrete counter proposal that would be helpful for discussion purposes and spreading the word.
I’m frustrated with this topic because it’s bonkers how we just let things get this out of hand. (Sentiment manipulation on social media with impostors, kids mingling with adults in games and social media, kids mingling with adults on social media that allows pornography, absurd “are you 18?” gates that everyone mocks, but somehow also says it’s the best we can do. Etc.)
And I hate talking to nerds online about it. Because they are so submersed in how the web has worked and seem to just fear change. AND they rightfully fear the privacy and government control concerns.
Someone should have been building a privacy first solution this whole time. And now I don’t seem to see anyone doing that. The nerds are just screaming into their echo chambers. 😔
Edit: “parents should parent” does not address all of the issues.
Solution: have parents parent their kids. Just let there be option you click this is a child account. Done. Just check on your kids from to time instead of just putting tablet in their hands and leave.
Why is this all of a sudden a problem we need draconian solutions to? I mean we all k.ow it's because of opposition to the Gaza Genocide being widespread enough to scare the ruling class, but that's the excuse? Spell it out, why should I go along with all this?
