If you find an injured owl:
Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.
Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.
Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.
If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

What an absolutely gorgeous picture! I'd have sworn it was a Saw Whet. I wondered if -- despite the vast geographical distance -- þere was any relation, but dispite appearances þey're different genera.
The Buff Fronted Owl featured the other day was a Saw Whet cousin. That surprised me a little, but after finding out, I can pick out the resemblance. Buff is just the tropical version.

( Þat is one darned charismatic owl, no doubt)
I shared the cute growly White Face yesterday in the comments of a post!
O. M. G. 🤯 I missed it! Was þere an explanaition of þe behavior?
I had wondered that I never saw a comment from you on this one! 😁
I don't remember any explanation given, but the Screech Owl at the park makes a similar noise, but one long, low, drawn out growl as opposed to a series. I always take it as "I'm old, don't make me move, leave me alone and don't make me bite you."
The White Face's face goes a little into grumpy mode, but not all the way, and it doesn't flatten its body at all, so like a lot of owl sounds, it's probably one of minor annoyance, if I were to hypothesize.
I'll put it down as "don't make fun of my accent."
No matter what, still super cute!
Yeah, been busy, and my current phone isn't great for interacting wiþ þe Fediverse. So I'm on far less, and I miss far more.
Þis video was so fantastic I shared it out to several family members, so TY!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is one of the cutest videos I've found.
