So what happens when they do it anyway and receive federal protection for doing so? Because that's my guess regarding how this restriction is going to go. These fucks already break laws - they probably aren't going to be super likely to follow the law that makes them easier to identify after they break other ones.

Best outcome is giving states more legal grounding for refusing to aid the feds.

I work in municipal government, and while my current city hasn't had any direct issues with ICE, my old town had them trying to use city hall as a base of operation. The city was lucky in that the parking lot layout was weird because it was built around existing trees, and the only place long enough for the prison busses was the fire lane, so the fire department was able to force them to move and they just ended up leaving town because they didn't want to deal with the hassle.

"It's illegal for law enforcement to wear masks, and he was wearing a mask, so he must have been a private citizen committing assault, so I put two rounds in his dome."

Oops you forgot the first rule, the state is always right.

I'd love to see this clash, but I doubt it will happen. A law that isn't enforced is worthless.

IIRC this is actually a civil suit, it requires the citizen to make the lawsuit, which makes it even more teethless. I actually wish this wasn't getting this much reporting on as I think it's pretty worthless fanfare.

Just gotta get the red hat wearing child rape fan in the local PD to come arrest them. Ezpz.
