Good point. So...MOST of lemmy is angry is more accurate. In fact, you can see it in this very thread.

People have left lemmy because of all the negativity. Lemm.ee shut down because of the negativity and burnout that it was causing. Bruh, I'm getting downvoted because I don't advocate violence. Does that sound welcoming and friendly to you? lololol

Heck, even lemmings.world is shutting down in July because the admin said that he was disappointed in how much Lemmy had devolved into politics, extremism, and negativity. He said he loved the idea of it, but now it's just politics and arguing now: https://lemmings.world/post/41938713

More examples: https://piefed.social/c/fedimemes/p/1825718/hurts-every-time

Look around. I'm not the only one to think this. My fiance lasted one week on Lemmy before she got tired of the negativity and anger. Then she deleted her account.

But don't worry, I'm not leaving. I'm being the change I wanna see. And I'm never going to advocate violence either.

My life is awesome and filled with love and activity. I'm not gonna join on on the doomer brigade. Hope you have a great day.

My life is awesome and filled with love and activity.

I mean, you kinda just proved their point that you've lived a sheltered life with little to no issues tho...

I'm being the change I wanna see.

By posting politics?...

By posting politics?..

This is a news article in a news community. This isn't a political community. Look at my posts. The vast majority of my posts are general news articles. So yes, being the change I wanna see.

It involves the attempted assassination of a prominent political figure, ergo, political.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It was a news article about a man who was convicted for a crime. It's not a political article, and this isn't a political community. I get that you really really love politics and "debating." There are plenty of communities on Lemmy for that. This is a news community, for the posting of news articles. I'm sure you love c/politcs, and I'm sure you get plenty of upvotes to make your day. I'm not part of it, nor will I be. Thx

This isn't a random crime though. I don't think the president of the united states' gets valid, state funded assassination attempts often. That's what makes this political. And political news is still news, so that alone wouldn't invalidate this being posted on a news community.

This is a news article, for a news community. You can keep going all you want, but I'm not going to change my mind. Most of Lemmy is political, so you have plenty of places where you can have a nice 8 hour "debate" on politics. This isn't a political community tho. Thx.

[–] Lumisal@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I get that it's a news article, yes. It's a political one though. Political news is still news and would therefore be valid for a news community.

Non political news would be something like "scientists discover new animal species that flows n the dark" or "multiple cats have disappeared at the same time in this neighborhood".

I'm just giving you an fyi because it seems it's your intention to not post political stuff and you seem to be having a bit of trouble discerning what's political and what isn't. At least, if you want to be that "change" you claim. Anything involving a politician and a government is definitely political, especially if it involves a political motive (in this case, ending or slowing actions on an illegal war) and will therefore attract political discussion. In this case, the politician being the US president and the government being Iran.

If it was an assassination attempt of a non-politician by someone not involved with a government, done for non political reasons, it would just be regular news, not political news.

This is a news article posted to a news community. It's not a political article, nor is this a political community. If you have concerns or questions about that, please message the mod. thx.

Austin, read what I did. I'm not disagreeing with your first sentence. I'm just explaining to you why this very much of a political article.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And I disagree with you, because I don't think it's a political article. We can agree to disagree. Thanks and I hope you have a great day.

[–] Lumisal@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You can disagree gravity is real too. Am opinion is not a fact.

[–] PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 weeks ago

We can. You have an opinion, and I have one. Neither one is more valid than the other. You gave your opinion. I gave mine. Thx and hope you have a great day.
