The only way you would know that is it you checked their profile, do make a habit of that just to wish them a happy [insert pastry here] day?

Not true, some apps show a piece of cake next to their name.

The lemmy web UI shows it, too. I'm on a piefed server, though, which doesn't show it. So this was news to me. :)
