https://mapcomplete.org/ is an easy-to-use website to view, edit and add points (such as shops, restaurants and others)
https://learnosm.org/en/ has a lot of information for beginners too.

CoMaps is an app that focuses on user friendliness. But it might lack some "power features".
Osmand is great when you really want to tweak your map experience. But it can be a little complicated for the occasional user.

If you can't find a location/address with your OSM app, check if the data even exists on OSM. If it is not there yet, you can check out StreetComplete, which is a cool way to add, check & fix the upstream OSM data.
