As a homesteader:
Corn needs intensive maintenance to stay alive.
Chickens are much more chill than corn. But are expensive AF to raise for meat. Much better for eggs.
Sheep. I can't even entertain the idea because my one acre would be turned into mud by even one sheep. And sheep love parasites. Or more correctly, parasites love sheep. The vet bills are stupid high.
Cows. Same mud problem as sheep on my property. I can't afford the fencing for them. If you don't milk that cow twice a day things go very wrong. Which means no road trips. No concerts. No life.
But potatoes are easy.
