Lt Gov Henderson looks to have been targeted by the more militant MAGAs, getting threats and mysterious packages after she and Gov Cox didn't back the 2020 election coup. Cox endorsed Trump in 2024, but Henderson refused.

I saw this interview with her while trying to learn more about her character. She is still firmly Republican, but she seems to understand people purposefully corrupting systems for personal gain. I was surprised with how readily she implied the now President is spearheading such a movement. I wouldn't say she comes right out with it, but I don't know what else anyone literate could take away with what she says.

This is a small excerpt, but if you're into politics, I do recommend reading the interview. It isn't long, and it's somewhat reassuring to see some Republicans still showing principles even if I still didn't support their politics.

I never want to conflate a person's character with who they support politically, but I will say that I have a real struggle with people who do know better and should know better at the top of Republican politics, who are sowing doubt and chaos and confusion for political gain - no matter who it is. And yeah, it's been starting at the top, but it's also trickling down through the ranks, and anybody who participates in that is not doing their country any service.

She had turned over all public voter info back in July, but not unredacted days the administration is demanding. Her job as Lt Gov is to ensure fair elections for the state, so she seems to be taking this as further personal attacks on herself.

Her party seems to be much more MAGA and supports the President much more than their fellow state representative.

Currently, Republican state legislators are pushing for a constitutional amendment that would remove the oversight of elections from the lieutenant governor's office and create a new office - an elected secretary of state - to manage elections. That bill was approved by a committee this week and is awaiting debate by the House.

If approved by the Legislature, it would require approval by voters in November.
