It seems as if we are setting an all time record for low ice this year.

The previous record low was 3.4 million sq km. I think BOE is < 1 million.
The drop in the ice this year is a large amount. I think it's so low that it's at a level that wouldn't have been expected before the 2030s based on the trend. You can really see on the chart how no other years have even been close to where we are today.
