Melbcat has been seen by the specialist. As an alternative to further hospital stays sheβs home now on daily subcutaneous fluids, pain and nausea relief, and antibiotics. The idea is to support her body and keep retesting her values at least every three days while trying to let the acute kidney injury recover. π€If she worsens she will have to go back into hospital.
Iβll also try to encourage her to drink broth, offer those pouches of soup style meal toppers, and get some electrolytes from the pet shop.
Sounds like you have your hands full, but they are the best hands for her.
I would much rather have kept her admitted and on iv fluids but the costs of that could get out of control very quickly. And she will need further care.
At least this way she has more familiar surroundings and her own bedβ¦
the comfort of one's own home is itself good care
hospitals can be very stressful even if only because it's different and new
if you can get the care you need at home it's a good idea
