UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Plus they are making bad decisions. They are trying to do the things good people have been trying to prevent, and are run by people whose life mission is keeping "the left" out of power, and out of the party, not keeping other parties out. Cancelling the right to protest, a masterbaitorbase, age checks coming, allowing defenses against over a decade in prison for charges for protesting in protests opposed by the government to be disallowed.
Then the bad faith proscription of a direct action protest group as terrorist. It's incredible anyone on the left would support labor right now, they have done more damage in the couple of years they were in than the conservatives did their entire decade plus it appears.
Also further cancelling jury trials, allowing magistrates chosen by their famously aristocratic and haughty and snobby legal system to send people to prison for up to 3 years without a jury trial. Because they underfunded and sabotaged the courts to use their failure as an excuse to get rid of the bedrock foundation of English Common Law going back to the Magna Carta, the envy of the world. The tories started it, cancelling trials for up to 1 year in prison in 2020 or so.
I wouldn't want them to make smart decisions with what they are trying to do, and their likely successor for starmer is the protege of Mandelson, the epstein best friend, whose mission in politics is also purging the left from power and surrendering their citizens to big business.
