I'm very much an eu fanboy and love this. I'm so sad that my dual citizenship with the UK no longer gets me EU status. I hope EU people love Australia too, though I do know of that one French Lemmy cooker who hates us with a firey passion God bless him. Fighting the good fight mate!

As an Aussie i wish that we were closer and were invited to join in the EU itself.

Lots of good things about Europe, but I doubt there would be enough benefit of us joining the EU. I think we can further relations with them without being in the EU.

No fucking way would the general public go for it though

Gen x one nation voter block won't go for it

Mostly white people in Europe though. Oh wait, but joining the EU means free movement across borders... Yep, I see the problem, you're totally right. Might be a lotta lefties against it too, for ecological reasons.

Depends on the future. Our traditional allies are turning into fascists, our comparative small size means we're not capable of going it alone.

I personally would like ties to EU nations all things considered.

Agreed, I still think this kind of change is decades in the making at least. The gen X one Nation crowd would never go for it and they are shaping up to be a MASSIVE voting block. I don't see it happen until we're past them.

Edit:

Tho with albos mandate of heaven... If only he used this unprecedented democratic mandate to actually do some proper left wing reform other than ban guns and piss off the free Palestine crowd.

Oh absolutely it'll take time. Decades is probably about right. But we can hope.
