Obama on why he refused to investigate or prosecute anyone for the CIA rendition and torture programme.
Yeah, well, looking forward got us illegal surveillance programs and extra-judicial killings of American citizens so it was worth it in the end

Looking forward from 2000 not backwards led to republicans perverting the vote itself, and embarking a systematic fixing of elections. An existential threat. Along with the creeping power of the federal government and the imperial presidency, that democrats have done nothing to put in check despite it being without question the abuses we were going to be facing.
Then 2020, looking forward, not backwards. Everyone involved not even investigated let alone prosecuted. Everyone thought there would be prosecutions, then jan 20, nothing happened. After a few months everyone lined back up behind the election thievery candidate, and party. The army guys, the Secret service guys, the attorneys, everyone involved in the attempted coup(s) attempt(s) was let off the hook. Kept their jobs. To do it again.
Now we are looking at fixed elections indefinitely going forward, fixed for the worst people in the world, all because the oligarchy captured the democrats and made sure they only chose weak candidates that wouldn't try to do any popular reform. As if that is more of a danger to them than a supreme leader, which hasn't worked all that well for the rich throughout history.
