Fellow yank, but it's basically a low level politician desperate to save his career in politics after he got burned for riding on the coattails of somebody who has been more or less proven to be deeply corrupted. But the recommended link appears to show he knew of the guys corruption, so he's pretty much screwed.
That's my take at least, so if anybody knows more feel free to correct me!
He's not a low-level politician, he was being hailed as the most likely person to become the prime minister if Starmer resigned yesterday. That's pretty senior.
