Huh, I always thought the UK was much smaller.
It’s not the size, it’s how you use it.
Just for reference, the largest company that has existed so far was the Dutch East India Company. Didn’t come from a very large country either, but that company had its own navy and it even negotiated treaties with countries just like a sovereign nation would.
It's hard to beat the power:area ratio of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Now we're cooking! That's more like the kind of edge cases we need to prove a point. Exactly 0 km^2 of area to protect, but you still have 13 500 knights. 😄
The important bits are pretty densely packed.
