You don't need a new install, I actually found it useful having cosmic installed when KDE wasn't working, I could just start it from the alt f2 cli

Sure, except that I had some bad experiences with multiple DEs installed on the same distro(Arch in my case) because of dependencies and upgrades causing a havoc on the system and cleaning up was a sizable pain.

I had endeavouros with KDE, cosmic and another one with no issues, so I guess it's just Linux Stuff(TM)
