The ‘mentions’ are things like Epstein saying “we should get the Dalai Lama for dinner”, and shit like that, it’s not like he was on Little St James.

Let's conveniently ignore that the Dalai Lama is a known CIA asset who enjoys sucking the tongues of young boys (which he even shamelessly attempted on camera), let alone the history of Tibetan sexual slavery and institutionalized pedophilia.

Nothing is being 'conveniently ignored', I'm simply pointing out that there is no actual evidence of links between the Dalai Lama and Jeffrey Epstein.

You shouldn't have to lie to discredit bad people.

American journalist and consultant Michael Wolff, who had acted as an advisor to Epstein, recalled in a podcast with host Joanna Coles for the Daily Beat last July that he met the Dalai Lama at Epstein's Manhattan residence.

"Did you actually meet the Dalai Lama at Jeffrey Epstein's?" asked Coles.

"Yeah, indeed," Wolff responded, adding that Epstein met many known figures at that house.

And I simply don't give a shit whether they had close ties or whatever. If your immediate response to a pedo intelligence asset appearing in the Epstein files is to attempt to downplay it, then I'm going to give you the side eye no matter what.

This isn't Reddit.

[–] godisidog@hexbear.net 25 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah, this isn't reddit, we don't need to make shit up to prove a point here.

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Lmao. Literally no one made anything up here, except you. I'm not going to play your game.

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

But don't you know? I don't need to investigate, in order to speak on a subject, I just need to be as angry as possible!

-Redditors, probably

who enjoys sucking the tongues of young boys (which he even shamelessly attempted on camera)

Obviously that's awful behavior, and he shouldn't be allowed around random children. But he's also 90 years old. Unless some pattern of behavior has been uncovered, I think this is more a case of him being a senile old coot who's brain is leaking out of his ears, than someone of sound mind making an intentionally malicious decision.

Some people on here sure like to play devil's advocate for a guy that's been involved in many scandals surrounding sexual abuse in his own community, attending sex cults where they trafficked women, and totally fucked up remarks thoughout the years. This shit goes back decades.

But I guess it's all just a complete coincidence, and it must be his age and senility. visible-disgust

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can't say I have an encyclopedic knowledge of Tibetan Buddhist sex scandals. But yeah, it's a politically influential, hierarchical religious institution. Of course it's crawling with sex pest shit. This is surprising to absolutely no one on earth.

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

I'm not talking about other sex pests, but about the Dalai Lama. You questioned if he has a pattern of behavior and put that shit down to his age, and I pointed out that there's been plenty of controversies and inappropriate behavior from him going years back. Hence my surprise that some people are so eager to give him the benefit of the doubt, because I thought this was pretty well known.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Sexual abuse of children was rampant in Tibetan monasteries from medieval times to the 1960s liberation, I wouldn't presume random senile behavior when there's a much better explanation

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i wonder why epstein wanted to have the dalai lama for dinner, surely it was purely interest in tibetan buddhism

[–] godisidog@hexbear.net 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Epstein’s entire deal was making connections with influential people. It’s not remotely surprising that he’d want to have links with someone like the Dalai Lama.

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

connections with influential people to facilitate what big-honk

Influence can be used to obtain goods and services

[–] casskaydee@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago

What kind of services

[–] BabyTurtles@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

Would the "goods" happen to be people and under 18?

now you're just making stuff up

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

Definitely not the sale of propane, or propane accessories
