What do you think of the Markiplier box office situation? Does anyone think that his Iron Lung film adaptation should've stayed on the list if the people owned the means of production?

Having watched the video I’m not sure what the issue is beyond “creators want their project to do better and are encouraging fans as such…” sounds like they want to piggy back on “support indie cred” regardless of reception?

Reality is it’s a movie made by someone only famous by inventing a personality. That same cult of personality doesn’t necessarily book theaters and in fact can do the opposite. Are you going to see the latest YouTube streamer film? What you don’t watch bs YouTube streams all day? Then what is your draw?

This is a niche project serving a niche audience already handicapped by previewed YouTube narcissism. There’s a limit to how high those wax wings fly…

It's actually a film adaptation of a game that Markiplier really loves

Yea totally I have no doubt the folks behind it love it, but it still has to escape the YouTube cult of personality as a “starring Markiplier” project…

Markiplier starred in, wrote the screenplay for and directed the Iron Lung film adaptation

Yes… and? My point is more about how he has a stage name and that whole YouTube personality thing can cloud the perception of a project.
