This implies there is an advanced microwave book somewhere.
Have you ever pressed the power level button? Using it is a fairly advanced technique.
Super useful if the food package tells you what wattage the time is meant for. I have a 1300 watt microwave. Most things are designed for an 1100 watt microwave. I cook them at full power to their specified times, it burns. I set the power to 85%, it's perfect.
Look! Look, everyone! We got one here who reads manuals!
Smh what about automatics?
Hurts my brain the way those shove words in against my will.
I usually use 30-50% power when I have to use a microwave at work to reheat leftovers
Takes longer but it comes out more evenly heated and less rubbery.
I usually use 100% when I'm cooking my fish and onion work casseroles though.

As a kid, I was really confused about how a 'microwave' power plant (SimCity 2K) could turn microwaves into energy. I mean, they use energy, so like, do they produce more than they use? Is that how my food is cooked? Why isn't everyone doing this? We could be generating power and cooking food at the same time! And why is it also a satellite? Can it get satellite TV?! This thing is so multi-purpose it's unbelievable!
Yup. It involves the buttons that aren't start or stop.
So the Popcorn button?
Look at Mr Rothschild here with a popcorn button.
With my pleb microwave I have to press the start button 5 times for the ideal time.
