I believe it feels like AI because the foreground is completely redrawn slightly differently each time where most artists would use the same image slightly altered.
I think the most alarming properties is Russian guy changing shape and the kids almost changing art style in the last panel.
The background though is static with the exception of that one cloud, thats something i have not seen an ai capable off.
The strongest reason why this would not be AI is the other content made by Catfish.
Yes actually I've started drawing the Russia guy not knowing where this was going. Copy pasting and scaling randomly.
When I added the text it was a real mess and everything (except the bg) was on the same layer so I redrawn on top of it quickly cuz I had a work meeting with some matabot (literally).
