I thank my lucky stars every day that I picked a field where this has basically never been a problem. Is it horrible stressful bullshit that no one in their right mind wants to do? Sure. But when one employer finally properly pisses me off I can spend the night applying to other jobs, go home to sleep for the day, and wake up to 3+ interview requests in my voicemail and have offers by the end of the week.
Never taking a sign on bonus again though. That was some predatory shit. If I wanted to get another job before August I would have to get the next one to cover it (but it wouldn't be hard, I'd probably even net positive, I just don't wanna get trapped in a cycle of it).
I will say though I mentioned to the clinical lead that my contract for that bonus is up this year and her eyes briefly widened in panic. People act like she lets me get away with whatever I want and like yeah. I'm doing like three different specific things she does NOT want to have to replace or do herself. And every time I get bored and do a side project for the night she gets partial credit for "promoting innovation" or whatever. And there's only like one specific thing I'm a little shit about and I do everything else at a level no one else holds a candle to so ๐
