Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
😇 Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
🏘️ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
🧬 Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
📋 Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
📬 Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.

🏴☠️ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

🍿 Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

There is absolutely a racial bias that it took white people dying for people to get upset at it to the level we are seeing now.
It's weird that your interpretation is "you're racist if your upset white people are dying".
People were already upset even before white people got murdered on camera (yes, even white people were upset before this).
There's always an uptick in momentum whenever a major incident like this gets caught on camera. That's not a bad thing. And anyone saying it's a bad thing simply because the victims happen to be white this time, are being racist and counter-productive.
My interpretation isn't "you're racist if you're upset people are dying." OP is claiming people are racist if they're upset white people are dying. My interpretation is that OP is racist for claiming that people are racist for being upset that white people are dying.
Try to keep your stories straight.
Why does it need to be a white person clearly being murdered on camera for it to become a large issue? Non-white people are constantly getting brutalised by the police. Kids are constantly being put in cages and being separated from their parents. And then a white person dies and everyone's like "If Kamala was in charge we'd all be at brunch right now".
There is absolutely a racial component going on here and if you interpret highlighting racism as racism then that's on you.
You're continuing to ignore the fact that it was already a large issue that people were upset about even before white people were brutalized and murdered on camera. People are upset about children being put in cages and separated from their parents. And people were already pointing out how we would all be at brunch right now if Kamala Harris (coincidentally, a woman of color and daughter of immigrants) had been elected.
It's strawmen all the way down. Even the part where you claim that what I'm calling racism is simply a matter of someone "highlighting racism."
There's always a racial component. Whether a white person is murdered, or a POC is murdered, no matter what people like you are always going to take every excuse to label every white person as racist. Don't be surprised when people stop caring what you think.
I'm not denying there weren't people who recognised there was a problem. But there are a lot who didn't and only started paying attention when it affected them. That's a problem because if you only take issue with these things because it affects you, then you'll only advocate for solutions that protect yourself rather then the rotten system as a whole. That's how you wind up with people saying "if only ICE were given more training" or "Trump should've gone through the senate before invading Venezeula" or "If Kamala had won we'd all be at brunch right now".
Okay well if you're just gonna make strawmen and deflect any counterexamples with "well those just don't count because that's not what I'm talking about" then we're not going to get anywhere.
I guess everyone should just pack up and go home, because it's so offensive that people are out protesting after some white people died. Hey everybody, it's actually racist if you're protesting against the regime right now. I learned that on lemmy.
Fuck's sake.
They're probaby a propagandist, just like OP - and if they aren't, they're just free labor for ICE, since they're acting like it. Slavery, and the wounds caused by that, have many layers. Don't let 'em get you down, just live your principles.
At least there's someone out there with a working brain still. Sometimes it feels like there isn't, but I know that's just an illusion. It can be exhausting to deal with, though. Thanks for leaving a comment.
Glad it found a home.
