Having trials agains enemy combatants over success really feels like a dick move.

Are they making sure they can go on a manhunt after was ends and have some kind of petty revenge?

Nah, just vilify the other side. They hate the fact that Ukraine prosecutes their war crimes and they have a hard time proving, or even just finding anything that would stick for other side.
