I'm planing to buy the Tdeck board because with the pro/plus version, Id upgrade the antenna and want a bigger battery.

I would also turn off the GPS because I don’t want to share my location publicly. I only need to communicate with a few people or when in a group camping.

So the board doesn’t include GPS (but can be soldered). Is there anything elsd I'll miss out on by not having GPS?

Getting map tiles can be a real bitch, if shared ones don't serve you well enough.

I had a look at the map tiles section on the meshtastic site. Can you explain a bit more on what this has to do with weather or not the board has a GPS modual.

If you buy the version with a full case, then both Rockland (US) and Lilygo (INT) models have GPS. If you buy just the T-Deck dev board then most likely not.

How the map tiles relate to the T-Deck, you'll need to have map tiles saved on a T-Deck memory card or GPS is almost useless when using mUI. Cordinates are there, and you can see other nodes in relative positions, but no map.
