The Sun could wink out of existence and there'd be a double-digit percentage of USAmericans unsure that it happened.
The joke is: I have never met an American who didn’t have a strong opinion on any topic. Even if they didn’t they would feel called out and make shit up.
"Not sure" isn't the same as not having a strong opinion, especially in the US.
They're very sure that it's impossible to have an opinion one way or the other.
Here I was wondering what Sun (newspaper) you were referring to.
