I was thinking it would be harder for them to recruit if you take away their ability to advertise. I’d take bigots shutting up as a good first baby step.
I always prefer my bigots to be out in the open. Easier to track who they are and what they're up to if they're not clouding it in secrecy.
I want them cowering in fear
I've heard people say this a lot... but it seems there needs to be a next step. Like, they are out in the open, having hate-rallies and constantly spewing veiled threats. And then what? We see what they are up to, but do nothing about it? The hate speech laws are so that we can actually do something about it. It makes some of the harm they do illegal; and based on the article, that does in fact seem to work.
I'd say that's an improvement. We saw what they were up to. We didn't like it. And now this is action to curtail it.
