I have this. My nervous system keeps my heart rate up in case I need to run or defend myself. It only goes down when I'm alone. I have a Fitbit and I've witnessed my heart rate go up ten bears per minute when I'm out on a walk and encounter a group of people.
Moving away from my childhood trauma has helped a bit. My overall resting heart rate has been gradually going down since I moved to a different state. I still have a lot of work to do, but progress is possible.
It's called CPTSD if anyone is curious. Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I've also heard that OCD can cause the brain to get stuck in flight/fight/freeze mode.
Edit: beats per minute, not bears, lol. I think I'll leave the typo. It's a good one.
